LAERA Andreina

Présentation :

My name is Andreina Laera and I graduated with an MSc in Environmental Engineering from the University of Bologna, Italy. My academic training is in the earth and resource engineering field, encompassing environmental biotechnology, petroleum geosystems, geology and geotechnics, hydrology, bioenergy technology, industrial safety and resource management. Through my MSc thesis on the valorization of agro-industrial waste from grape pomace and olive mill wastewater I obtained specialized knowledge and competencies in the fields of biotechnology and biorefinery. In March 2015 I was enrolled in a three-month training program at Linköping University's Department of Thematic Studies, in Sweden, where I was part of a team investigating the optimization of the biogas production process. I recently started a PhD reserch project entitled: Fate of trace metals in the soil after land application of digestate, in the frame of Advanced Biological Waste to Energy Technologies (ABWET), a Marie Sklodowska-Curie European Joint Doctorate Programme. During my three years PhD programme I will work the partners of University of Cassino (Italy) and University of Limoges (France). The main aim of this research activity is to develop a method to optimize the land application of the digestate in order to increase the soil fertility. In particular, the dynamic and distribution of trace elements in soil layers after land application of digestate will be investigated. Moreover, the phytotoxicity of trace elements in the soil will be evaluated by a direct and indirect methodology approach.
